Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is something that we all need to be effective with communicating and decision making. This is something that is used for many different things. It can be life decisions or even business decisions. Both of these ways happen just about every day and it starts with simply making decisions. There’s many different ways that you can go about making decisions but thinking critically is one of the best approaches to making a decision about something. When you think critically you think deeply about the things that can go wrong in a choice made and the odds of things going the right way. An author of an article I chose to support my statements on this blog named John Edwards, stated “It’s a talent that can make you a stronger, more effective leader.” I think it’s also important to know that most of these decisions are made by a leader so that’s one of the reasons that I like how he explained that it will make you a “more effective leader”. Next, I want to highlight his definition of critical thinking. John states “Critical thinking is the ability to effectively analyze information and form a judgment. While IT leaders can certainly benefit from critical thinking, many are unaware of this skill or how to properly use it.” This leans the focus onto my next point. I want to link how critical thinking can have a big effect on my field of work that I am aiming to be in.
Information Technology is a serious field and takes a lot of strategic thinking in just about everything that is done. You are working with tech that a lot of major companies rely on to do their jobs and provide service to others. In my first IT course I ever took, my mentor repetitively expressed how Critical thinking was imperative for IT leaders. The reason it’s very essential to IT leadership is because the leaders sit in the middle of things heavily relied on by the world like data, technology, business processes, and people. Overall the importance of the word that I keep saying is high and it will always be used in a business setting.
